If you’re worried about someone knowing that you have been on this website, or any other connected to domestic abuse, follow the steps below to remove traces of the sites you have been on. By following these steps, it will remove all cache files, scripts, images, and other media stored on your device after you have opened an app or visited a website.
You can clear your browser history (the part of a computer that shows the footprint of where you have been online) by following the steps below.
Windows computer:
- Open Chrome
- Click ‘…’ top right of browser
- Select ‘More tools’
- ‘More Settings’
- Click ‘Clear browsing data’
- Choose a time range, such as last 24 hours or last 7 days
- Select the types of information you want to remove
- Click 'Clear data'
Internet Explorer:
- Click on the Tools menu (in the row at the top of the browser)
- Select Internet Options from the drop down menu; you should now be on a tab that says 'General' – if not, select 'General'; under the title, 'Temporary Internet Files'
- Click on 'Delete Files'. You can also check the box that says 'delete all offline content'
- Then, under 'History' click on 'Clear History' then click OK, at the bottom
Microsoft Edge:
- Open Edge browser
- Click ‘…’ top right of browser
- Click on "History"
- Click ‘…’ top right of the window that has opened
- Click "Clear browsing data"
- You can then decide how long you wish to delete your history for (ie the last hour, week or all etc)
Firefox:
- Click the menu button, choose 'History', and then 'Clear Recent History'
- Select how much history you want to clear: click the drop-down menu next to 'Time Range' to choose how much of your history Firefox will clear
- Finally, click 'Clear Now'
Mac:
- Open Chrome
- Click ‘…’ top right

- Click ‘Clear browsing data’
- Choose a time range, such as last 24 hours or last 7 days

Android mobile:
- Open the Chrome app
- At the top right, tap ‘...’

- Tap ‘Clear browsing data…’
- Next to ‘Time range’ select how much history you want to delete
- Check ‘Browsing ’ Check any other data you want to delete
- Tap ‘Clear data’
IOS mobile:
- Open the Chrome app
- Click ‘…’
- Select ‘History’
- Click ‘Clear browsing data’
- Next to ‘Time range’ select how much history you want to delete
- Click ‘Clear browsing data’
SafariMac:
- Open Safari
- Click on ‘History’ in toolbar
- Select ‘Clear History…’
- Choose a time range, such as the last hour, today or all history
- Click 'Clear History'
IOS:
- Open Safari
- Select book icon from bottom menu
- Press ‘clear’

In Incognito is a way of browsing the internet without any of your history, cookies, information entered on forms online or website data being saved on your device.This means your there is no footprint of what you have done online, as long as you have followed the steps below before you start browsing..
To use incognito browsing:
- Open Chrome
- Click ‘…’
- Select ‘New incognito window/tab’
Whilst the above steps should prevent your online activity from being detected, nothing is guaranteed. So, to be one hundred percent certain that all of your online activity is hidden the safest way would be to use a different device, maybe that of a friend, or family member.
